Resorption Repair in Auburn, AL

Tooth resorption occurs when the body breaks down and absorbs a tooth's root or pulp, often due to injury, infection, or prior dental work. Left untreated, this condition can lead to persistent pain, infection, and eventual tooth loss. At Endodontic Associates of East Alabama in Auburn, AL, we offer advanced resorption repair to halt tissue breakdown, restore damaged areas, and protect your natural teeth. Dr. William Looney uses specialized techniques to address the root cause of resorption, prioritizing minimally invasive solutions that prevent complications. If you're experiencing dull pain, temperature sensitivity, or unexplained gum discomfort, we urge you to schedule an evaluation at our practice to learn if resorption repair or any of our other endodontic treatments can help you find relief.

During your consultation, we'll examine your mouth to assess the location and severity of resorption. In more complex cases, we might use our practice's sophisticated 3D cone-beam CT scanner to take a closer look at your oral structures for a more precise view. Dr. Looney will use these images to create a personalized repair plan tailored to your condition, whether it involves root resorption repair or addressing damage to the tooth's crown or pulp. Resorption repair often includes endodontic therapy to access the affected area, remove damaged tissue, and halt further breakdown. After thoroughly cleaning the tooth, he will fill and seal it to restore strength and prevent reinfection. Once your resorption repair is complete, your general dentist will monitor the area during follow-up visits to ensure proper healing and address any future concerns.

What Can I Expect After Resorption Repair?

After your procedure, you might experience mild discomfort or sensitivity, which can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. We'll provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery. It's important to maintain good oral hygiene, including gentle brushing and flossing around the treated tooth, to promote healing. We recommend scheduling a follow-up appointment so Dr. Looney can monitor your progress and ensure the tooth is healing correctly. With proper care, resorption repair can save your natural tooth and restore your oral health for years to come.

Dr. Looney took great care with this very anxious patient. I would definitely see him again.

This doctor is very caring. He went above and beyond to get my pain under control. I had one root canal and continued to have pain. He saw me (without a scheduled appointment) and did another root canal on a tooth next to the first infected one. I am praying this will resolve the issues but if not, it is certainly not a reflection on Dr. Looney. He has thorough, quick and most of all, compassionate. The office personnel were great as well.

My dentist did a root canal about 20 years ago and for some reason it went bad and he recommended that I see a specialist because of the difficulty of redoing one. I choose Dr. Looney from my dentist's recommendation and because his practice accepted my Southland Dental Insurance. The Dr. and his assistants did a great job, my root canal went fine, and my insurance covered the entire amount due, I was even refunded the co-pay. I hope I never need another one, but if I do I will see Dr Looney.
